“My portraits are an integrated process communicating sensual repetitions and color variations – representations not of what we see but of how we possibly might recognize the familiar that is located in the past and the future that we are continually subjected to through our interaction with visual technologies.”
Thomas is acutely aware that it is not always so much that we simply remember but perhaps more importantly, what we choose to carry forward. He brings his archetypes to the audience or campfire, where they are temporarily contained and the corporeal mechanism is a flattened possible surreal. He takes the formal that is intangible into a deliberate intimate, weaves their past futures and moves on.
